Acadian Awakenings: France & Acadie

Acadian Awakenings:
France & Acadie

Acadian Awakenings is a series of oversize paperback books dealing with Acadian history and genealogy. They deal with one large and prominent family - the Girouard, Giroire, Girroir...

In the first book, which is a prelude to each of the following four, the author travels to France in search of his roots. The history of Acadie and extensive appendices are also included in this first book.

The following books deal with Nova Scotia/PEI, New Brunswick, Québec and the Cajun roots in Louisiana. The France, Acadie and Québec books also present the French-Canadian branches of this family. They integrate the genealogy in the history of each region and use the authors original and simple genealogical Master Chart system. Used in combination with the first book, they place a particular family within the context of history.

The author Bill Gerroir, was a member of the Board of Directors of the Congrès Mondial Acadien 2004 (World Congress of Acadians in Nova Scotia 2004), whose mission is to establish international links and identity for all Acadian families.

The five heavily illustrated paperback editions measure 6.75" x 9.75".
